Tips for cleaning brass

Brass should be cleaned regularly with Mr. Sheen and soft cloth.

When the brass becomes pitted, i.e. lacquer breaking down, strip lacquer off (paint stripper is best) polish with “Brasso” or “Shower power”.  Then re-lacquer product with Incralac (Wattyl product) or similar spray lacquer for copper and brass.

Important – make sure product is warm before spraying, this reduces bubbles.

Mortice locks have a variety of back plate depths, meaning the rebate needs to be measured before a replacement lock is ordered. To measure a mortice lock follow these easy steps,
For replacement locks, remove the lock and measure the depth ( picture) and width.
For new locks, before making a recess (or cutout) ensure the door style (frame) has enough space to allow for a lock.
